Stunning Antique French Figural Mantel Clock, Brass & Bronze Finish, Lady Garden Scene, c.19th Century
Antique French Figural Mantel Clock by Samuel Marti, Bronze & Ormolu, Seated Lady Allegory, Original Enamel Dial, 19th Century
Sculptural Beauty with Original Enamel Dial, Roman Numerals, Collectable Timepiece with Key & Pendulum
A magnificent late 19th-century French figural mantel clock of exceptional decorative quality, featuring a beautifully modelled seated classical lady resting above the dial, delicately holding a floral wreath, an allegorical symbol of honour, remembrance and virtue. Richly cast in bronze with an ornate ormolu (gilt bronze) base, the clock is adorned with flowing Rococo scrolls, acanthus leaves and floral ornamentation, reflecting the elegance and artistry of the French Belle Époque.
The crisp sculptural modelling and finely chased decorative details make this piece equally desirable as a work of sculpture and as a traditional French mantel clock.
The original white enamel dial is in excellent condition, displaying elegant black Roman numerals and finely pierced hands. The movement is supplied complete with its original key and pendulum.
The movement winds and ticks; however, owing to the prolonged closure of my local horologist, the clock has not been fully time-tested. As with most antique clocks that have been stored, I recommend a routine service before regular use. This is normal practice for clocks of this age.
Whether displayed on a mantelpiece, console table or cabinet, this impressive clock becomes an immediate focal point and complements both period and contemporary interiors.
This clock has been in storage for several years and may benefit from servicing to ensure full accuracy. As with all antiques, expect signs of age such as patina, wear, or surface variation.
Presented in very good antique condition, displaying an attractive age-related patina consistent with its age. The enamel dial is free from chips, cracks and crazing. The movement winds and ticks but has not been tested for long-term accuracy and may benefit from a routine service before regular use. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.

Clocks, Mantle clocks, music boxes, and other similar items may require service after transportation and are sold as decorative pieces. Please note, whilst clocks currently work, during transport, all clocks are moved around a lot, and therefore, they may require setting up upon receiving them, as well as the possibility of requiring professional assistance or service, as they can get 'stuck'. There is no guarantee that the clock will work smoothly after it has been transported. Leans Gallery does not guarantee that any barometers, clocks, or music boxes are in working order.
